THE NATURE OF THE
AFTERCARE PROGRAM
Since 2019, NC4H has helped many men reclaim their lives, welcoming people of all faiths, with dignity and respect.
Our program goes beyond detox and rehabilitation. We provide therapeutic support, skills development, and opportunities to reconnect with family and community.
PHASES OF THE PROGRAM
The programme has four phases in a nurturing, family-oriented environment, supported by psychosocial care and spiritual guidance throughout.
Phase 1
LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOR CHANGE
Orientation: explanation of the code of conduct, housekeeping rules and general information
Health education (hygiene and general wellbeing), building trust
Personal development planning
Participation in the garden project
Spiritual guidance

Phase 2
EQUIPPING FOR INDEPENDENCE
Literacy and numeracy skills development
Computer training
Business courses attendance
Skills development (farming, sewing, vocational and entrepreneurial skills, soft skills, and inspirational courses)
"Side hustle" - job opportunities discussion and exploration
Further building of personal development plan
Spiritual guidance
Family and community reunification
Attendance at weekly SANCA meetings
Exit plan initiation

Phase 3
STEPPING INTO RESPONSIBILITY
Skills development - ongoing
Side hustle
Relapse prevention
Gender-based violence education
Family/community reunification: Weekend pass-out with drug testing upon return
Development of exit plan
Ongoing spiritual guidance

Phase 4
COMPLETING THE JOURNEY
Intensive relapse prevention in preparation for exit
Intensive family and community reunification
Skills development completed or ongoing
Business plan development finalised
CV updated and email address activation
Leadership duties: Peer mentoring and teaching as a senior
Increased responsibilities
